Finding a Writing Course
Writing courses can vary considerably in cost, length and quality. A variety of tertiary-based writing courses can be found at the three major South Australian universities ...
These are usually good value and range from undergraduate courses, through Honours and Masters, to Doctorates in Creative Writing. Many interstate campuses also have courses.
Adelaide Centre for the Creative Arts (tafeSA) has a number of professional writing courses, Tabor Adelaide offers a creative writing course and the WEA provides shorter courses for beginners or those interested in hobby writing.
The SA Writers' Centre runs three-hour workshops, plus longer seminars as well. Our current program of workshops and seminars can be found here.
There are also a burgeoning number of web-based courses but, as always, caveat emptor applies, especially to those that are run from outside Australia. There are also companies such as The Writer’s Journey, which runs workshops and retreats in Australia and abroad. Most of the state-based Writers’ Centres run workshops and seminars on varying topics that cover both the creative side of things and issues that relate to the business of writing and the publishing industry generally.
